WEEK 10 : INTRO TO AFTER EFFECT

After effect = a 2.5D animation software used for animation, visual effects, and motion picture compositing.

- Pre-Compositing  in Photoshop = All layers needs to be arranged and renamed accordingly so that it will be easier to animate.

- Pre-Compositing in After Effect = Layers that were already organized is imported into After Effect.

Tutorial

In this task, we were to animate a photoshop file that was given to us by Mr.Fauzi in google classroom using a simple transform (Position, Rotation and others) following the instructions in google classroom :

1. Download the PSD composition below:
2. Import the W10_ANIMATE.psd into Adobe After Effects.
3. Create a composition setting 1080 px (Width) x 1920 px (Height), Duration 15 second
4. Create a keyframe animation to the layers using Position (P), Scale (S) & Masking path.
5. Render output: Quicktime (.MOV) or .MP4
6. Upload your exercise into your Youtube Channel.
7. Update your progress and video to your E-Portfolio blog.

Practical

I first downloaded the photoshop file given by mr.Fauzi then I import it into After Effect with layers and adjusted the video settings into 15 seconds.

I played around a little with the layers. I made the top circle fall to the bottom then bounced back up using the position settings.

I also made the fish move around like a DVD screensaver by bouncing it to the side using the same settings.

I also made both buildings disappear to the side using the position and used opacity on building 1 as it had to move the farthest out of the two buildings and I wanted to give it some perspective.

I made the second circle on the bottom slide to the side and used a little scale and opacity settings to made it look like it had perspective when it's sliding.

I used to rotation settings and put it to 1 full rotation on the people.

I then rendered it and upload it in Youtube.

The result is extremely random but I had fun with it.

Reflection

This week task took only a few minutes to make but I had fun with it. I had a bit of a technical difficulties in the beginning of the task as I was a bit confused on how to animate it but when I understand what was needed to be done , the rest of the task was not hard at all. I know this week task is just a little taste on what After Effect is and it will be harder in the future, but for now I think I'm allowed to play around with it a little.
