I first filled out the questions that the lecturer gave us to help us decide what we wanted to make.

1. Write a biography about yourself

INTRO

Tell us about yourself

My name is Carren Yeliandi, I was born on the 28th of July 2006 in Indonesia. I was born in a loving family with a younger brother and an older brother, making me the only daughter in the family.

PARAGRAPH 1

What is your passion ?

My passion is ever changing, sometimes I like to play the violin sometimes I like to do sports. But only one has manage to stand through time, though I  can’t really say  that this will be something that I will forever enjoy but in the present time, I can say that my passion is drawing especially original characters.

PARAGRAPH 2

What motivates you to achieve your dreams ?

This is an extremely hard question for me as I am still searching for a motivation in life however the very thought of me spoiling my family in the future is something that never fails to motivates me during hard times. So I would say that my family is my motivation for me to achieve my dreams

SUMMARY

How do you want to visualize your dream into an artwork ?

I am still thinking on the how to but I definitely want to visualize how each person in my life held a piece to my puzzle. Some held a dark piece that symbolize their negative impact towards my life, and others had the light piece that symbolize the opposite.

2. Write a statement about your work

INTRO

Tell us about your work

My work symbolize who I am as in what happened in the past, the current present and the one-day future.

PARAGRAPH 1

What is the concept behind it

I had my ups and down in life but the only reason why I was able to make it this far was because I had a healthy and supportive environment, I want use that reason in my work to show how it has built me as a person, to showcase how everything bad and good that has happened help to make who I am as a person now.

PARAGRAPH 2

What is the message you want people to understand

I want people to know understand the impact of people in their lives towards their own person, how despite everything that happened, in the end it made you into the you now., so even if you regret and wished to redo something, know that you only know that you wanted a restart because you did it first.

SUMMARY

What is your motto/quote ?

Everything that happened, happens for a reason

I then searched for some reference and made a sketch based on the answers that I gave and the reference.

After that I went ahead and took some photos.

PROCESS PART 1 & 2 - SELF TITLED POSTER

I used quick selection tool to grab the photos and then put it on an empty A4 canvas. I then searched for a puzzle template then distort it using warp distort and clipped it onto the the photo of myself. I proceed to cut out pieces of the puzzles from myself and scatter it around. I then proceeded to uses adjustment layers on the puzzle pieces, myself and the hands coming out from the sides. I also dealt with the details such as erasing part of the puzzles where the fingers met, the title and sub titles.

PROCESS PART 3 - ANIMATION

After I was finished, I continued on to After Effects and animate the puzzle to move up and down using positions or even scales and then moved the hands using position and rotation. I then inserted the music and the make the title pop up based on the beat using opacity. I also used rotation on myself to make myself not too stiff.

After I was finished, I realized that I made the wrong size so I quickly change the canvas size in photoshop and arrange the pieces of the work so that it doesn't look too weird. Then I just proceeded to animate it more or less the same with just the difference that the hands were animated only using rotations as the picture was cut off.

Reflection

This final project was really fun to make. I had to use mostly everything that I've ever learned from this module so it's a nice project to see if I have actually learned something or not. The mistake of using the wrong canvas is definitely not a nice experience and animating it is not something that I actually enjoy as there was quite a lot of things that I still did not understand , there was also the fact that some of the adjustment layers seems like it did not transfer but I didn't understand why and it made me a bit upset but overall it was a nice project that actually grasp all the materials we have learned throughout the entire course and a perfect project to end the semester.
