WEEK 9 : DIGITAL SURREALISM
Surrealism puts a twist on realism as it explores the subconscious mind. Create digital surrealism artworks using dream-like scenes and symbolic images.
Tutorial
This week, we were tasked on completing the poster design made with our own photography that is related to the quote chosen by ourselves and an illustrated typography quote from IVN to go alongside the photo.
This week tutorial is a demo on how to create a loop animation on IG stories by Fauzi Yusoff
Practical
First, I sketched out some ideas and went with the best one after consultation with the lecturers.
I then took some photography of my surroundings and myself that fit the sketches.

I cut out the needed parts of the photo using lasso tool or quick selection tool and put it in a A4 canvas in photoshop.

At first I thought that they should look out the window but decided to delete the window but keep the wall.
I then adjusted the colors and lighting, I also added some shadow using a brush then put it on blending mode and lowered the opacity a little

After Mr.Fauzi took a look at it, he said that it was too dark so I deleted a few adjustment layers and lower some opacity of the shadow that I added.

I then decided to add a rainbow by searching for a picture of a rainbow with either a transparent or white background. The one that I used had a white background hence the need to use a blending mode (multiply) to delete the background.

Then I arrange 2 of them on the clouds to make it look like half a circle but hidden by the clouds and also lowered the opacity to not make it too overwhelming.
I then added a gradient map photographic filter (black-blue-white-yellow) to make it all look more united.
After comparing it with the quote title, I decided that it was too light and made the title looks dull so I lowered the brightness of the background only.
I experimented a few times but in the end manages to find something that pleased me. I decided to make a new title just for DPI to make it look somewhat more readable just in case.

Reflection
This task was extremely confusing to do, at week 8 I did not know what I should do and wasted the whole week. I spent most of the time dreading on this task rather than actually doing it. I seriously thought that this will be extremely hard and refused to do it until the last moment. But when I actually made it, I realized that it was not that complicated but I just made it look complicated in my mind because I just imagined doing it rather than actually doing it. In the end though, I manage to make something that I can be somewhat proud of, I know that it is not my best work but it is my first work result so I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out. Next time I'll make sure that I try it first before dreading it though.
