1A - Dubbing
I was given a muted video from "Everything Everywhere All At Once" and was tasked to dub this using my own voice and search for sound effects online.
I first search for the original video to use as reference.
After which I search for some sound effects online and recorded my lines as close to the original tone and timing as possible.
I then used the pitch shifter to change my voice into 4 different person which is Evelyn (Wife), Raymond (Husband), Accountant Boss and Other Husband. I raised my pitch for Evelyn slightly and more for the accountant lady just to differentiate them. The husbands' pitch is lowered due so they can have a deeper voice, to differentiate between husband 1 and 2. I made husband 2 pitch to be slightly lower than husband 1. I also adjusted the cents to be higher for husband 2, I don't really understand what cents do since I don't notice the difference but I still adjusted it just to give a slight more differentiation.

I then simply cut and arrange the voice lines as close to the mouth moving motion as possible.

I then added the sound effect and using the effect controls to make the sound effect smaller or bigger, making sure it aligns with what's happening in the video.
After that, I hear it again and again and made changes like slight alignment or volume adjustment as much as I needed until I got to the final version which I am quite satisfied with.
1B - Audio Editing
For this project, I recorded my voice using my home country language "Indonesian" and recorded some random lines. Below is the lines that I used for the recording that I used.
"Halo, aku Carren, umur 19 tahun, lahir tanggal 28 Juli 2006 di Jambi, pulau Sumatera, Indonesia. Salam kenal!"
which translates into : "Hello, I'm Carren, age 19 years old, born in 28th July 2006 in Jambi, Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Nice to meet you!"
I was tasked to edit my voice into 4 different sounds or situations, which is :
1. Phone call
2. Muffled
3. Underground Cave
4. Aliens/Orcs
To do this, I just followed the instructions given by the lecturer here. We had to record our voice and then insert the recording in the audition and create a multitrack session in order to re use the same recording over and over again without having to reinsert it again due to the distortion already made.
A. Phone call
Based on the tutorial given I just have to lower the leftmost (Treble) and rightmost (Bass) setting and bring it closer to the middle (between 500Hz - 2kHz) as well as raise the middle point up to the top until it forms a mountain kind of shape.

B. Muffled
The muffled voice uses the same tool just different settings. This time we don't touch the rightmost setting but raise the middle point (Mid Range) to the top again and bring it closer to the rightmost setting (Bass). We also need to bring the rightmost setting (Treble) down and bring it closer to the leftmost setting. I then adjusted it as much as I needed until I am satified with how it sounds.

C. Underground Cave
For the underground cave, we want to make an echo sound and to do so we need to apply reverb. I just play around with the settings multiple times while hearing the edited voice until I decided on the current setting that I felt give a suitable echo for someone who speaking in a cave,

D. Aliens/Orcs
For this one I just went ahead and experiment with whatever type of voice editing there is on the app. I layered multiple on top of each other and used multiple different settings that made my ears hurt. The only consistent audio settings that I did from all the experiment is made sure that the pitch is as low as it can get so it sounds disturbing. The rest I just did whatever I want until I got a somewhat alien like voice with how much distortion I did as seen in figure 7.

Reflections
I was looking forward to this project and it sure didn't disappoint me, I always wanted to try and do dubbing so this project was actually really fun to do and I actually gave quite a lot of effort in doing the dubbing and the sound effect, making sure to pay attention to the details that I can hear from the original video and somehow replicating and improving it while I do my version. It was a bit of a hassle to try and find the correct sound effect that had the sounds that I wanted but the end version was really satisfying to watch. The voice editing though, I didn't know what to expect and although I'm not as interested, it was fascinating to see how by doing basic voice editing it can distort a voice to sounds like it's in certain place and condition. It was not hard to do as well. Overall it was a really fun project that I for sure want to do again if given the chance.
